Special graduation

A very special graduation took place as little learners from High Bank Day Nursery moved on to the next step in their learning journey.

And this year was extra special as it was the first time in three years that parents were able to be present to see their children graduate.

A total of 30 children from High Bank took part in the graduation ceremony which marks their end of their nursery life, before they start ‘big school’ in September.

The children, all wearing red gowns and mortar boards, began the celebrations by singing songs on stage in front of their delighted parents.

They were then called up, one by one, to receive their graduation scrolls from the nursery’s pre-school staff.

After, the children joined their parents in the nursery garden to get pictures taken in an outdoor photo booth and to enjoy a party tea.

Zara Watkinson, High Bank Day Nursery Manager, said: “Due to the pandemic we were unfortunately not able to welcome parents in for the last three year’s graduation ceremonies, although we did film it for them.

“However, it’s obviously much nicer when the parents can be present to see their children graduate from High Bank, so we were delighted to welcome everyone back this year.

It’s always sad to goodbye to children, some of whom have been with us since they were babies, but it’s a lovely way to mark the end of the children’s journey at High Bank and hopefully they are leaving with lots of happy memories of their time here.”
