Our Practitioners – Emma

Emma Marshall has spent a large part of her life looking after children, so becoming an Early Years Practitioner was the logical career step.

The 47-year-old started working in childcare after moving to the area with her family 26 years ago.

She used to look after children near her home, including taking them places like the cinema, so she says she was always destined to choose this as a career path.

After leaving sixth form she did a BTEC in childcare (now known as an NVQ) and worked in another nursery for 14 years before coming to High Bank in April 2022.

“I was aware of High Bank because a teenager who lives across from me went to the nursery and I know others that went there too, so I knew it had a good reputation.”

Emma is now part of the team supporting children in our Toddlers room.

“I like working with children this age as they can tell you what they want to do and the interaction with them is very good.

“I love it here already. My previous nursery was in a town centre with not much outdoor space, whereas here you literally have the countryside on your doorstep.

“I have been made to feel very welcome by the other staff and the parents are lovely too, so all in all, it’s brilliant.”

Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her family, keeping fit and playing and watching sports. She particularly loves Formula 1 and has been to a Grand Prix at Silverstone which she says was an amazing experience.”
