Cricket sponsorship

Children who used to attend High Bank Day Nursery are now wearing the name proudly on their sleeves as part of a cricket sponsorship.

We are sponsoring the Richmondshire Cricket Club youth section during the 2021 and 2022 season.

This means the nursery’s logo can be seen on the shirts worn by the different age groups who play for Richmondshire, namely the under-9s, under-11s, under-12s, under-13s and under-15s team.

The current season has just come to an end and it was the most successful in the junior section’s history, with nearly all the teams either winning their respective league or cup competitions.

Many of the children who play for the teams used to attend High Bank, including four players alone from the under-15 team.

This year, for the first time, the various Richmondshire youth teams are wearing the same blue shirts with a select number of sponsors, which is similar to the shirts now seen in professional leagues such as the Indian Premier League (IPL).

And the new-look shirts have proven popular with over 100 have being bought for the season.

High Bank Day Nursery owner Lesley Thompson said: “We were delighted to be one of only a handful of local businesses approached to sponsor the young cricketers this season.

“We knew many of the children who play for Richmondshire used to attend High Bank so it’s lovely to see them now wearing our logo on their shirts.

“Hopefully, this will bring back lots of happy memories of their time at the nursery and based on the results it looked like it has spurred them on to great things on the pitch this season.”

Mike White, Richmondshire Cricket Club Junior Chairman, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our junior sponsors this year and hopefully we have paid back their investment with our amazing results and the fact the shirts have been seen during the games we play across North Yorkshire and Teesside.

“Grassroots organisations like ourselves rely on donations like this and we are very grateful for High Bank’s support.

“They obviously breed good cricketers at the nursery!”
