Whether it was Halloween, making homemade juice or preparing our autumn fayre, it was another fun-packed month at High Bank Day Nursery in October.
Babies got in the Halloween spirit by enjoying the pumpkin sensory play. This involved using their hands to feel a scooped-out pumpkin touching the flesh, seeds and skin.
The granddad of one of the nursery children came into the nursery to demonstrate how to use a handmade juicer. The children enjoyed picking apples and pears and blending them together to make the most yummy, fresh juice.
Pre-school got in the Halloween mood by making a castle for Winnie the Witch. They all enjoyed adding a variety of Halloween items to the tufty tray to make it even spookier.
Winnie the Witch is a very popular children’s book and so is Room on the Broom, which toddlers have been reading. They loved playing with the characters and accessories in the book.
We have had a lovely day celebrating Halloween at High Bank with some spooky Halloween food, dancing and games like pin the mouth on the pumpkin.
We also started planning our Christmas fayre in aid of Darlington MIND. The fayre takes place on Saturday 23rd November from 10am and 1pm and there are going to lots of stalls and fun things to do for the family.
We hope our lovely parents and families can attend the fayre and for those of you who can’t make it, we’ll share lots of pictures on our Facebook page and include it in our November round-up.
See you soon….Activities, Halloween, high bank children's day nursery
