There have been activities galore at High Bank Day Nursery during April.
On Mondays, Coach Shane comes and does football club with pre-school and toddlers. The children love practicing their physical skills and learn things like team work, turn taking, and resilience.
On Tuesdays, Martin the Music Man comes to pre-school to do music with the children. He plays a guitar and the children get a turn to sing through the micro phone. The children learn new songs, developing their language skills as well as confidence, self esteem, creativity and social skills.
On Wednesdays our pre-school children learn to speak French and they also joined toddlers in our gardening club with Farmer Joe.
In pre-school we do our morning exercises every morning to get ready for the day ahead. Our children are beginning to understand the importance that physical exercise has on good health and it really helps regulate their emotions as well. It’s important for us to teach the children strategies for good mental health from an early age to help them cope with life.
Babies practised their hand eye co-ordination this week, using cutters to make bunny biscuits while our tweenies used their fine motor skills to make chick-tastic play-dough, all ready for Easter.
We also started a farm shop in pre-school where the children can act out real-life experiences developing their imagination whilst learning about different types of fruit and vegetables. There have been lots of different conversations going on as well.
Toddlers love messy play and enjoyed exploring the paints using different mark making tools.
Our babies have had a cracking time getting messy, decorating eggs for Easter by rolling them in the paint. They had so much fun with their friends and practised their fine motor skills at the same time. They also helped to make some bonnets for our Easter bonnet parade.
Pre-school enjoyed learning about the life cycle of frogs. They watched the tadpoles swim around and are looking forward to seeing them turn into frogs.
And babies enjoyed a visit to our mini-farm to see the animals, practising the animals’ sounds and laughing at the chickens.
